Nikon Matrix Metering and "D" Lenses

Compatibility of Ikelite SubStrobes with the matrix metering and/or rear curtain sync of some sophisticated Nikon SLR models like the 8008, N70, and N90 series is frequently questioned. Matrix metering and rear curtain sync capabilities are functions of the camera, and Ikelite SubStrobes are completely compatible. The Nikon "D" series lens automation with their surface strobes utilizes a small preflash to ascertain settings. This system is not utilized in underwater strobes because it will be confused by the apparent image created by a dome.
