My name is Jonathan Miller, I'm a PADI DM living and diving mostly in New England, traveling to dive as often as possible. I've been diving for 11 years, photographing for about 5 years, and taking underwater photos and videos the past 3 years. Still working full time in healthcare as a PA, but slowly expanding my role in the dive and photography community by getting out there to shoot as often as possible.
This year I traveled to dive Southeast Asia for the first time, so all of these photos are from the Andaman Sea off the coast of Thailand.
I use a Sony a7R IV with its Ikelite Housing, 2x DS51s Strobes or 1x DS160 + a DS51. I mostly shoot now with the Sony 16-35mm F 2.8, sometimes with the Canon 8-15 Fisheye and the full 8" dome port as well.
Giant green morays were everywhere. I'd rather run into any shark than one of these guys. Their stare from this angle is pretty intimidating. Sony 16-35mm. © Jonathan Miller
This is a photo of my wife cruising over a reef. The reefs in Thailand were incredibly alive. Sony 16-35mm. © Jonathan Miller
Peacock Mantis Shrimp, Richelieu Rock. This incredible dive site was like an Attenborough documentary come to life. It was a difficult balance trying to photo this guy without getting punched. Sony 16-35mm. © Jonathan Miller
This is a school of giant trevally which occupied Richelieu Rock and kept circling the dive site. It was like being swallowed up into a giant soup full of life. Sony 16-35mm. © Jonathan Miller
I liked doing some alternative shooting in black and white on this trip. Sony 16-35mm. © Jonathan Miller
Clownfish were everywhere and so interactive. Very territorial and not afraid to defend against a much larger foe. Catching them poking their heads out of the anemones was awesome. Sony 16-35mm. © Jonathan Miller
These table reefs were beautiful and really showed how nature can create some incredible shapes. Sony 16-35mm. © Jonathan Miller
