About Erena Shimoda
Erena pioneered her Underwater Transformation Project after surviving a traumatic car accident in which she lost her father and severely injured her body. As numerous testimonials illustrate, Shimoda’s powerful and transformative Underwater Portrait Sessions help cancer survivors rediscover their beauty, regain their confidence and self esteem, and provide an experience of transcendence.
In 2024 Erena was awarded 2nd Place ($7,000) in the Getty Images creative grant program. Her dream is to finish photographing 100 survivors and that goal is just around the corner!
