DEMA Show 2018 New Product Coverage

We had a great time at the DEMA Show 2018 for dive industry professionals in Las Vegas, NV. Couldn't make it to the show? Here's a rundown of what was new this year.

 

Housings for Nikon and Canon Full Frame Mirrorless

We've been waiting a long time for Nikon and Canon to step up and introduce their lines of full frame mirrorless cameras. But there's no need to wait for a housing! We showed housings for the Nikon Z6 and Z7 and also the Canon EOS R. Both housings are shipping now.

This housing is extremely lightweight yet full featured, with ergonomic access to all important camera functions, built in vacuum valve, and M16 accessory port for the addition of third party HDMI accessories. The DL port system supports both Z-mount lenses and F-mount lenses using the Nikon FTZ Adapter. The lens release control allows you to remove either type of lens while leaving the camera in the housing for quick changes in between dives. The Nikons' fantastic EVF is perfectly complemented by an optional 45º or Straight Magnified Viewfinder for a huge, bright view of the action. 

200DL Housing for Canon EOS R

The housing for the EOS R has all of the same great features as the housing for the Nikon Z6, Z7 and supports both RF-mount lenses and EF-mount lenses using the Canon EF-EOS R Mount Adapter. Either type of lens can be removed and replaced while leaving the camera body in the housing.

DL1 DS Link Nikon TTL Converter

DL1 DS Link TTL Converter for NikonEven die-hard manual shooters wish they had TTL when their subject is in motion. Switch quickly between TTL and manual using the push button on the side. Enjoy blazing fast recycle times and super-accurate fractional strobe powers that simply aren't possible with manual strobe exposure.

The new DL1 DS Link Nikon TTL Converter works with current model DS strobes and all current Nikon DSLRs, plus the new Z6 and Z7 mirrorless cameras. It's available with an Ikelite connector for Ikelite and non-Ikelite housings featuring our super dependable ICS-5 bulkhead. It's also available with a Nikonos N5 type connector for Aquatica, Nauticam, SEA&SEA, Subal, Seacam, Isotta, and other brands of housings offering this type of connector.

The DL1 is slim, streamlined, and pairs well with our new line of lightweight sync cords- available now in single or dual versions with a variety of connection options.

Trim Weight System for DSLR and Mirrorless Housings

Trim Weight System for DSLR and Mirrorless Housings

Our latest DSLR and mirrorless housings with DL port system are so lightweight that sometimes you may want to actually add weight to your system depending on the camera, lens, and port combination you're using. But you certainly don't want to be packing that weight in your suitcase.

Our new trim rail system allows you to attach a standard weight belt weight once you get to your destination.  The rail system attaches without tools and can be quickly adjusted for front-to-back balance as the length of your lens port varies. The trim weight system makes super macro shooting easier and helps to reduce wrist fatigue. Video shooters also benefit from adding a trim weight system for smoother footage with less camera shake.

The trim weight system is available for pre-order and expected to start shipping December 2018.

DC-Series Dome Ports for Compact Housings

 DC-series Dome Ports for Underwater Compact HousingsThis new series of dry domes replace the standard flat port on select compact camera housings. Advantages of a dry dome include a wider angle of coverage underwater, and the ability to shoot split shots (aka over-under or half-in, half-out of the water) without the pesky double waterline that you get with wet lenses. We offer 3 varieties right now: DC1 for the Olympus Tough TG-3, TG-4, and TG-5; DC2 for the Sony RX100 I, II, III, IV, V; and DC3 for the Sony RX100 VI. Coming soon for the Canon G7X Mark II.

RC1 Olympus & Panasonic TTL Receiver for DS Strobes

RC1 TTL Receiver

Most underwater TTL strobe options are watching the camera's built-in flash and trying to mimic its behavior. There's a few problems with this: 1) battery life is drained because the built-in flash has to fire; 2) you have to wait for the camera's flash to recycle in between shots, which may take several seconds; 3) exposure is less accurate because the camera doesn't know you're triggering an external strobe. 

The RC1 TTL Receiver solves all of these issues by taking advantage of the remote control / wireless flash feature of most current Olympus and Panasonic cameras. Get super fast, accurate exposure with a DS51, DS160, or DS161 strobe. Compatible with many popular models including the Olympus Tough TG-3, TG-4, and TG-5 cameras.
