Canon R5 II Re-Assigning MODE Function for Use in 200DL Underwater Housing [VIDEO]

Featuring Logan Wood

You will need to reassign the MODE function to a different button when using the Canon EOS R5 II in the Ikelite 200DL Underwater Housing. If you don’t do this, you won’t be able to change the camera’s mode while underwater.

Why Move the MODE Function

You'll need to reassign the MODE function on the Canon EOS R5 II when using the Ikelite 200DL Underwater Housing. If you don't do this, you won't be able to change modes on the camera underwater. It's really simple to do.

How to Move the MODE Function

Go to the Custom Function Menu and choose Customize Buttons. There's a few different buttons to choose from, but we recommend selecting the bulb button since it's generally not used underwater. Scroll down to the Bulb Icon and press Set. You have options for almost every function on the camera, you'll want to scroll down until you find the MODE function. Press Set to set it.

We recommend customizing the bulb button as your MODE button because the bulb button is typically not used underwater.

Testing MODE Function

Change modes using the push button on the top of the housing just to the left of the power on/off switch.

We've left the function of the MODE button intact so when you take your camera out of the housing, you'll still be able to change modes using either the bulb or MODE button.
